Washington DC

15 October 2017

Visited Ford Theater. So surreal to stand just a few feet from where Lincoln what shot.
Went to Arlington Cemetery and did the trolley tour. First stop was Kennedys graveside with the burning eternal flame. After that, we went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where they did the lasting of the wreath ceremony. It was very moving when they started playing the taps...unbelievable that we can't get people to respect the flag, they need to visit this place. Then we went around the cemetery seeing all the headstones so perfectly lined with one another and speed at the Arlington House. George Washington's grandson built this place and eventually Gen. Robert E. Lee lived there for a short time.

Pulled in to campground at 4:30 and got set up. Nice big campground with lots of shade. Not many campers, maybe 1/4 full. Went to purchase our fare for the metro train into Washington DC in the morning and stopped and ate at Famous Dave's.
Took off from home around 8:30pm, traveled to Columbus, OH and stopped at a Cabelas around 12:30am to spend the night. It has free overnight stay for RV/campers with non-potabke water and dump station. A lot of traffic noise and It rained overnight but slept pretty good. Getting ready to take off to Bull Run Regional Park campground in Manassas, VA.
