When planning this trip we called it "the trip of a lifetime". It hasn't disappointed. We've got plenty of photos and lots of GoPro footage (thanks Peter 🙂) to help when the memories start to fade.
As we walked through the door the cat gave us that special look they reserve for the hand that feeds them...."Where the hell have you been?"

Oh well....all good things as the saying goes. A picture from a different room in the Shangri La Hotel on the last night...having achieved Genius status on booking.com we got an Opera view room for a good price.
Angie settling into the massively comfortable business class seat on Singapore Airlines for the first eight hour leg back to Changi airport in Singapore, where we passed an Enchanted Forest display on the way to the business class lounge.
The final leg was on a Swiss Air Boeing 777. Unfortunately the business class seats leave a bit to be desired and while they are a 6' 6" flat bed they have the width of a modestly priced coffin 😏
The journey home went very smoothly with no delays...we even landed early at Heathrow where the chauffeur was waiting for us with his brand new Volvo. Unfortunately, we got to experience a bit more of the comfort of the vehicle than we had hoped for whilst crawling through a 30 minute delay on the M4...not what you want after 22 hours flying.

Nearly done.....Sydney Opera house concert. Katie Noonan (who?) and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Impressive building 🙂. It's pink tonight....vote on same sex marriage due on Tuesday 😋

The Blue Mountains really are blue! We chose a perfect day according to the locals. As for the cicadas.....they are 5 to 6cm long and up to 120 decibels....literally deafening.
We rode the 51 degree railway three times...great fun 🙂
Now in a beautiful Airbnb in Dee Why, North Sydney. Brand new apartment.
Sydney Opera booked for Friday😋

Arrived in Jervis Bay with the weather finally improving. Rewarded with some spectacular whale watching - a mother teaching her calf to fin slap! 😋. Now in Wollongong. Started the day with 31 degrees and jumping the waves with Angie. Finished with strong winds and 10 degree temperature drop. Sydney bound tomorrow. Driven over 1,400 miles with ease in our Subaru Forrester 🙂

Gradually working our way north. We began to think we had our own personal weather system until realised whole East coast affected. Finally looking forward to warmer weather. We are a day's driving from Sydney in Jervis Bay. Whale watching tomorrow 😋
Pictures vary from kangaroos outside the beach villa to our latest accommodation - we are staying in a themed resort. We are staying in the "Bank" 😎

OK. This globe trotting stuff is hugely enjoyable but it's time consuming and difficult to discipline oneself to keep the journi up to date. This collection begins with the Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road and goes via Melbourne to Lakes Entrance. As you can see the weather has been on the fresh side and the roaring log fire in our log cabin has been very welcome. Possum feeding and stroking before bedtime 😋
Today at last we have had cloudless skies and took a three hour boat cruise amongst the coastal lakes. The wildlife was fascinating. All finished off with a close encounter with some koalas 😎
19 October 2017
Bit of a mixed bag but we have completed the Great Ocean Road and next we will be visiting Melbourne before beginning the journey up the Princes Highway to Sydney. Blogs will be more detailed once we start spending a couple of nights here and there.

They have parking places for seniors and Woolies lives 🙂
This is Torquay but not as we know it.....30 degrees!
17 October 2017
"Work" rather got in the way of keeping the story up to date so this is a bit rushed.
15 October 2017
Seen our first kangaroo. Seems to be in good breeding condition 😂
14 October 2017
View of unexpected fireworks from our room 🤗
13 October 2017
Just a quick post to say safely in hotel in Sydney. Orchid from Singapore botanic gardens 😎
12 October 2017
Sling them over your shoulder (the peanut shells that is). The cocktail is easy to get use to 😛
Finally in the room. What a view 😎
That seemed to go very quickly but crammed a lot in. Finished off Singapore Slings at Raffles followed by a gentle stroll back to hotel. This turned to hilarious tropical storm during we both looked like we had jumped in the pool 😂⚡️⛈️😝☂️. Stuff all miraculously dried by morning. Next hop on hop off business tour. 🚌
