Daisy's Stay in Budapest, Hungary

27 August 2017

My first "proper" cabbage roll. Pickled, apparently, as is the style of the region this version is from. Not bad, but I definitely prefer it un-pickled.
Except for the salsa, the food at Tacos Locos was really good.
Bilingual church with a proper coffee shop time!

Planet Sushi? Yes, please! So good!

Vajdah├║nyad Castle is fairytale-eqsue. It's not very big, but it was fun for me to see. It's situated beside an equally beautiful museum.
Saw the Memorial to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence.
Saw an interesting Time Wheel on the walk to Heroes' Square. Because of an event or some such goings-on, I didn't get to see the Square but from across the street.

Ate a late but fancy dinner. Too much food! I barely finished. The building was interesting inside, though.
Visited my top "Must See", Fisherman's Bastion!! Also saw Mathias Church first as we approached the bastion from behind. I only wish I had Fisherman's Bastion to myself!
Visited Gellert Hill Cave Church (Sziklatemplom). It wasn't what I expected from the pictures online, but it was lovely.
As I traveled to and from the hostel, I saw Liberty Bridge, Chain Bridge, and other architectural wonders that I have yet to properly visit. But that's fine with me for now. I have other things I want to see first.

Arrived at the airport, dropped off my luggage at the hostel, and immediately met the rest of my program's participants at dinner. Beautiful view of the river and buildings, and the food was good.
