Unfortunately we leave Dubrovnik today. We had an amazing time in Croatia. It is a beautiful country with friendly people and amazing nature. I would recommend everyone to go to Dubrovnik. If you don’t want to stay in the busy (and expensive) part of the city Lapad is a great place to get an apartment. It is very easy to get to the Old Town from there by taking the bus and Lapad itself is also worth the visit. It is right by the water and has a lot of lovely little bars.

Today we visited Lokrum Island. It is about 15 minutes by ferry from the main port in the Old Town. The Island itself is very nice and peaceful, you don’t even realize that you came with so many people. On the whole island you can find peacocks and bunnies, some of which are actually quite tame. We visited the monastery and the botanical gardens. We even went all the way to the top of the island for a beautiful view. After all this we had some downtime and snorkeled in the beautiful clear ocean. We saw some amazing fish 🐠 and even a vibrant red starfish. After Lokrum Island we went back to the mainland and walked the city walls of Dubrovnik. This is an absolute must-do when you are here.

Today we woke up at 7am because we had the fist kayak trip in the morning from the Old Town. We booked our tour with Adventure Dubrovnik and they proved to be great! The crew was very nice, the group wasn’t too big and the level of effort was doable. We kayaked around Lokrum island and stopped at one of the islands caves, it was beautiful. About 45 minutes later we stopped at a secluded beach where we were able to snorkel and see the fish. There were also stops on the water so everybody could rest for a bit where the guide would tell us something about Dubrovnik’s history.
After the tour we went home and got ready to watch the FIFA World Cup final France vs Croatia in a bar on the boulevard in Lapad.
Although Croatia unfortunately didn’t win, they played a great game and the atmosphere in the pub was fantastic!
Tomorrow is our last full day here in Dubrovnik and we will visit Lokrum island and walk the city walls.

Today we had a nice relaxing day at the beach 🏖 I had time to test out my GoPro hero 5 for the first time while snorkeling. It worked great!
Tomorrow we’ll do a kayak tour and watch the soccer World Cup finals, go Croatia! 🇭🇷

Yesterday our flight and bus transfer had some delay, so by the time we arrived at the Airbnb it was dinnertime. The Airbnb is a very nice apartment with a lovely hostess. Today we visited the old town of Dubrovnik, which is absolutely stunning! We saw beautiful buildings, tiny shops and breathtaking scenery. We booked a Game of Thrones boat & walking tour for the evening and a kayak tour for Sunday. The Game of Thrones tour was a lot of fun, it started on a ship that was also used in the series. We got a ‘dragon blood’ cocktail and were able to take some pictures in costume.
After te boat, we got a walk-through of the city where scenes from the series were compared to the actual sites. This was very entertaining and our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. All in all a great (but tiring) day. Tomorrow we want to spent some time in Lapad just taking it easy :)

It is finally time for my citytrip to Dubrovnik. I have been looking forward to this for a couple of months now. Our flight is today and we only have hand luggage, so packing was a bit of challenge but it all worked out ☺️.
Dubrovnik is also called ‘the pearl of the Adriatic Sea’ so there must be some beautiful sights ahead!
