Only 3 hours sleep / up at 3.30pm. Feeling a bit seedy. Scary drive from Palm Springs to LAX. Tricky night driving judging distances.
Arrived LAX - good drop off and shuttle systems provided by Avis.
Hawaiian Airlines provided good service once again - arrived Honolulu 6hors layer - on ground for 2 hours before final leg to Maui👍🇺🇸
12 hours total travel today by car and two planes
Pick up rental then straight to kite shop before closing at 6pm
Then settle in - found great whole food shop just down the main road
Then back to unit for chilling after a big day
10 August 2017
Cool houses seen on app tour. Then markets in Main Street - so hot so lots of shops restaurants mist water above side walk.
Last supper by pool.
Gorgeous breakfast poolside at our Motel
No pool time today - action packed SHOPPING at Desert Hills Outlet - recommended👍
Had to have an iced cold mocha with whipped cream😂. Jess will whip me into shape in about a week😅
Off to do Architectural house tour👍
9 August 2017
Great end to the day - pool time and beautiful meal. Decent food
Paula had zucchini pasta and I had cos salad blue cheese sauce with hangar steak. Cocktails by pool - smashed water melon, mint, lime, soda and maybe small amount of sprite - vodka if wanting alcohol 😂
After a sleep in and beautiful breakfast - been awhile since decent food. Muesli fresh berries yoghurt.
Drive to aerial tramway - very scary - Paula loved it.
Came across another squirrel - didn't pat it this time.
Stunning views down to valley at altitude 8500ft
Cable car held 80 people and the floor rotated so everyone got a view.
Went home for pool time and gorgeous pool side dinner
8 August 2017
Stunning Room and grounds
Drive through the Desert to Palm Springs was a hot one. 109 degrees - had the hood down as left Grand Canyon but as we travelled west temperatures climbed.
Stumbled on Route 66 while looking for food - super cool.
Felt quite isolated as we travelled B roads in straight out desert - wouldn't want to breakdown , with searing heat not cell coverage.
Made it to Palm Springs 7 hours later👍🇺🇸🎉
Woke up very excited. Packed for the drive to Palm Springs via parts of Route 66 in our convertible yellow Mustang.
But before that it was Chopter time flying over Grand Canyon.
It was breathtaking and slightly scary. Paula Loved It❤️🇺🇸

Getting some supplies from local grocery
Lazy start to day - seem to slept later - body clock all out of whack. Explored the village, pretty small mostly motels, steak houses grocery.
Found I Mac threatened showing Dunkirk which we booked for later that day.
Made our way into park in mustang with roof down - nice🇺🇸👍
At first sight the canyon lows your mind - its sheer size. Took a few MYPT shots.
Found a wee squirrel which I patted. Then turned the corner to see signs - DINT PAT WILDLIFE - risk of tabbies etc.😂
Booked Chopter Tour for next day
Dinner was large fries sunday fro Macs
6 August 2017

FIrst time out of NZ for Joshua's Memorial Day.
Kids, Barry and Eileen in the usual way and sent us video video a messenger of balloons flying away into the winter sky.
Alarm went off 4.15 only 3 hours sleep. Uber to JFK - Uber couldn't find us but made up time by speeding - bit scary!
Took ages to get through security at airport.
Sleep 4 out of the 5 hour flight to Vegas
2 August 2017
Last full day
Day started as usual breakfast and coffee. Wee place tucked around the back of hotel.
Then on tube downtown to get Ferry across to Staten Island Ferry. You can get a great view of City and Statue of Liberty on a FREE Ferry ride.
Bit cloudy for photos - damn
Caught tube up town to 86th station then worked through ritzy areas to Guggenheim - Paulas highlight - I was more interested in the building.
Then got a bit lost on tube trying to get to Denise for a drink before going to Chicago the Broadway Hit Musical.
Got to Hotel and message on phone NO CHICAGO / not playing today.
Disappointed to say the least - did City lights from Brookland via UBER👍👍👍$55. Good finish oh plus Gelato

Few more pics of Highline and Ground Zero 9/11
31 July 2017
Liked the Highline so much we thought it would be a great way to walk to Ground Zero - memorial site for 9/11 Terrorist Attack.
Alas it was too hot and too far.
We did get to the Highline. It needed the Uber to get the rest of the way.
It's a sobering experience going to the memorial park and fountains (one for each building) remembering almost 3000 soles who lost their lives.
After demolishing the sandwich - lots of walking to pick up some bikes - ride down Westside bike lanes to get to Highline (a disused rail track above city converted to a raised park). Great way to walk and take in some great architecture and views.
Day after concert - nice relaxed Birthday USA time - 31st again
On the recommendation from a Melbourne lady Tonya we met at the concert we thought we would check out LITTLE COLLINS Cafe. On Lexington up near Central Park.
Belongs to Australians - good coffee and food
Went up the Roch to take in the views of Empire State Building and New York
Checked out Central Park with our sandwich from Little Collins
30 July 2017
GREAT BIRTHDAY Paula Comber❤️❤️❤️❤️
More photos of FLEETWOOD MAC and fireworks finish
Was a big night last night, must of been. Rolled out of bed at 1.30pm - quick bite to eat then off to concert
Met our Florida Friends there again
My infamous Facebook Dance Video was taken this day 30/07/2017.
One two many Budweisers and awesome Beats from EARTH WIND and FIRE.
Then Journey / super loud
The FLEETWOOD to finish the night
29 July 2017
Concert night, tube, Grand Central, and Broadway at night
Great night last night withTim and Elsa inBrookland. Got tickets to Classic East at Citi Field
Just needed to figure out to get there.
After a planning session we could relax and go for a run around Central Park. Walked past Trumpy Tower which the Donald hangs out.
Had a decent run and then walked through Westside to Hudson where Westside Park runs south half way to Statue of Liberty.
She was a big day mate and got bigger
CONCERT was looming
Could the train - just made it as found it had to get money from ATM
GOT SOME AT 3.30 at Citibank just in time to buy train ticket.
Train got quite packed - arrived Citibank stadium for concert.
Man the handle crowds well - all very organised - beer vendors on the ground serving so no need to leaving your seat unless for food.
Doobie Brothers were awesome (couldn't get over the guy with the big white teeth, died hair, blue top in the band lol)
Then Steely Dan reminded me of a white Stevie Wondering.
Then the EAGLES - awesome, awesome.
28 July 2017
Well had a weird sleep pattern due to a cat nap day before. Slid out of bed at 1.30pm so day wasted but needed to get our bodies back in the right zone.
Had a stroll through Maceys - a bit like Harrods but the American version. Bought a shirt. What a drama trying to pay for it. Couldn't fine someone to actually take our money - not cool Maceys.
Then got ready to go to Tim Bathurst. Well that was call once we figured how to get to Brookland. I think we had watched two many movies. We were slightly worried. As it turns out it is a mix of graffiti and weeds and wire fences but there is a lot of new developments due to Brookland's close proximity to Manhattan.
Tim and Elsa took us to a canal BBQ style restaurant where all the cool cats go.
Pig Beach was an awesome spot if you want to experience a real tasty casual meal in an up an coming area in Brookland.
Dog culture is next level here with dog spas and a DogParker. A little kennel outside Bar that locks, air con, cell camera
27 July 2017
Arrived JFK New York via Honolulu around 6.30pm 27/7/2017. We took the ordinary cattle class instead of the extra comfort seats which we had from Ch Ch to Honolulu.
Arrived same day we left Ch Ch after 25 hours travel - cool not to loose ant time.
Caught an uber to Times Square to Crown Plaza.
Did the Hop on Hop Off bus in the Arvo - walked the Brookland Bridge, and checked out the cool architecture.
Had a cat nap from 4.30pm to 9.00.
But the highlight was when the lights came on at night. Breath taking Times Square at night.
Few snaps of buildings around The Big Apple
26 July 2017
Left Christchurch approximately 8pm 26/07/2017. Thanks to Jess Comber for dropping us off. Temperature was about 4 degrees. So looking forward to getting warm when we pass through Honolulu travelling with Hawaiian Airlines.
We were worried about the Airline but we were pretty happy with them and fly with them again. They were $1800 to New York compared to Air NZ as they were $3400.
Question: In photo three I shocked myself whenI had not one but two eye masks round my neck and I asked Paula where my eye mask was. Discovered it when I when two the toilet and looked the mirror. I should say in my defence I had taken my first sleeping pill 😉
