11 July 2018

last flight! bye Malaysia ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ super excited to come home now ๐Ÿ˜
goodbye to Sam and Mr Lee our beloved tuk tuk drivers ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ these guys made the rainy days great and weโ€™re always there for us, theyโ€™re such fun! gonna miss them too ๐Ÿ˜“โค๏ธ

10 July 2018

dinner with the centre staff โค๏ธ Hero, Vannat, Makara, Bella and Sokil ๐Ÿ˜“ really gonna miss them, theyโ€™re like family now
final goodbyes to my school kids ๐Ÿ˜“ Nida, Ratanak and Thavithai in the morning and Kollyan, Bunatra, Bunly and Norreay in the afternoon... the cards they made and the presents they gave me made me absolutely bawl. these kids have barely any money at all and they spent all they had on presents for us, it was too sweet... not a dry eye in the place... we all love them so much โค๏ธ

9 July 2018

second last day of teaching ๐Ÿ˜ฅ itโ€™s getting so close to the end and the kids are getting upset about us leaving

8 July 2018

drove from Siem Reap back to Phnom Penh today. ate sticky rice and beans for the first time and it was pretty good ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ more market shopping tonight and then weโ€™re watching Antman and the Wasp tonight and iโ€™m so pumped ๐Ÿ˜Š

7 July 2018

went to the Hyatt for fancy dinner ๐Ÿ˜ i had blueberry lemonade, chicken and green mango salad and a salmon and cranberry wrap! it was amazing ๐Ÿคค my first time trying salmon and it wasnโ€™t too bad
today we visited Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple (and one more that i forgot the name of) it was seriously the most amazing thing iโ€™ve ever done! everywhere you looked there was murals carved into the stone and beautiful trees as far as you could see! we climbed to the top of Angkor Wat and the view was stunning! the whole thing reminded me of both Indiana Jones and The Jungle Book ๐Ÿ˜Š the coolest thing was that unless you knew it was there, you couldnโ€™t see it... the whole temple was surrounded by trees so tall and thick you couldnโ€™t see the temple from the outside! also i patted an elephant!!!!! couldnโ€™t get any pictures because there were monks around but it was awesome ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ gonna go back to the hotel and get a massage i think because my legs are dead from walking up and down temple stairs all day...

6 July 2018

drove to Siem Reap today in monsoonal rain... scariest weather conditions iโ€™ve ever seen ๐Ÿ˜ฌ we made a stop along the way at a place where you can eat fried insects (spiders, crickets, scorpions, etc) and i was aiming to try a cricket but as soon as we got off the bus some kids came running up to us with GIANT LIVE TARANTULAS in their hands and they were pretending like they were going to throw the tarantulas at us!! i got so scared i puked and ran back on the bus... not a huge fan of spiders on a normal day, but tarantulas this size no way... arrived at the hotel and the wifi actually works and there is a pool so itโ€™s a welcome change ๐Ÿ˜

5 July 2018

just saw Incredibles 2!! it was awesome ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

3 July 2018

today was probably the best day so far ๐Ÿ™‚ i got to teach my morning class, my two boys were struggling at first but once i got them playing games they were so much better! they even got cheeky and were cheating in the card games ๐Ÿ˜‚ in the other photo is a 18 year old girl named Srey Lin, she was the sweetest person iโ€™ve ever met... we talked for like an hour and seriously became such good friends straight away ๐Ÿค— even gave her my address because she wants to send me letters once i get home โค๏ธ

2 July 2018

launch of the kennedy baptist college centre today! the kids performed a song for us and it was adorable ๐Ÿ˜Š got a photo with young girl whoโ€™s mother was telling us how beautiful we were and insisted on getting a picture with us to show her appreciation for us for supplying all the families with enough rice for a month... too sweet

1 July 2018

update from yesterday and today ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ 1 + 2 = the view from last nights river cruise along the Mekong River 3 = behind me is the royal place, the specific building that only the king is allowed to live in. they fly a blue flag out in front of the palace to say that the king is inside and while we were there he was 4 = more of the kings buildings along the royal garden 5 = hilarious spelling mistakes ๐Ÿ˜‰ 6 = a beautiful painting i bought at the central markets ๐Ÿ˜ 7 = some of the kids at the new kennedy centre that our school opened today. they were performing a welcome dance which was adorable! 8 = a girl and the centre whoโ€™s mum begged me to take a picture with her daughter because she thought i was beautiful and was so grateful for us opening the school

30 June 2018

some random pics from today ๐Ÿ™‚ first one: in the slums with Celine, one of the students weโ€™ll be teaching next week. second one: the temple at the killing fields. third + forth one: a cat!! ๐Ÿ˜ป and the view. fifth one: fruit for breakfast! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
today we will be visiting the killing fields and the genocide museum... gonna be a tough day but a much needed learning experience. later on today we are meeting the families of some of the students we are going to be teaching who live in the worst slum in Phnom Penh... hopefully everyone soaks this experience in and realised how blessed we are at home
this is the view from my 3rd floor balcony at the Golden Gate Hotel ๐Ÿ˜ iโ€™ve been up since 5am this morning and it hasnโ€™t been below 27 degrees all morning ๐Ÿ˜ฌ update on our luggage though, they accidentally flew it to Taipei... we got it at 8pm last night except for one poor guy in our group whoโ€™s is still stuck over there

29 June 2018

made it safe and sound all the way to Phnom Penh! flight was delayed an hour and when we landed we discovered that our whole groupsโ€™ luggage is MIA... weโ€™ve been sitting on the airport floor absolutely boiling for the last hour and a half... fingers crossed they sort it out soon
on a brighter note i realised that i crossed the border into the northern hemisphere for my first time today so thatโ€™s pretty awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

28 June 2018

just left home on my way to the airport! soooo very excited but also a little upset too... gonna miss my puss ๐Ÿ˜ฟ
