OCTOBER 6 BLED-LJUBLIJANA-ZAGREB
OCTOBER 5 BLED After breakfast we walked down to the lake, walking towards the castle and taking lots of photos. Visit to the castle was just as interesting as last time. A little later in the morning took a pletna to the island in the lake, followed by trip to Bohinj further up and into the alps. Very beautiful town, lake and villages . Returned home to potter around Bled, sparkling wine at the Pub Bled and the dinner at OSTARIJA PEGLEZ'N not far from the HOTEL PARK ( same restaurant as one we went to in April)

OCTOBER 4 : PLITVICE- OPATIJA- POSTAJIA- BLED Left at 7.45 driving till 6.25, with stops in OPATIJA for lunch. On to POSTAJA CAVES. Absolutely spectacular!! Huge chambers... stunning formations..... colours from iron oxide... magnesium oxide. We were taken in 2kms on a train carriage then walked one till we were many kms below. OMG the head just kept swivelling! Arrived in Bled to stay at the PARK HOTEL which is directly adjacent to the Bled Lake... the VIEWS!!!

OCTOBER 3 TROGIR-PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK We left Split at 7.30 this morning and headed towards Trogir, a Greek founded town on the other side of the bay from Split. There was little traffic so we made good time and we were able to explore Trogir without too many people around but by the time we left at 10am it was becoming quite busy. Dianne and I had a 'vanilla slice' for morning tea - it was yummy! Not from Trogir we were amongst several other buses and trucks which were pulled over by police to search the vehicles and check documents. It was very disappointing to be held up for about 45 mins or more as it impacted on the time we had to spend in the National Park. The walk through the park and up around a couple of the middle lakes was truly beautiful and though hard work at times with the steps and uneveness was worth the effort. We are staying in the Jezero Hotel right at the top of the path into the National Park.

OCTOBER 2 SPLIT: Stopped at Makarska for lunch, another pretty coastal town, then headed for Split. This town of about 200,000 is spread across the hills. Evidence of recent bushfires is still apparent across the mountains, and it seems that many houses were lucky to have escaped unscathed. The walking tour was very good. We wandered the smaller streets and found a different type of shop with lovely ornaments and hand creams.

29 September 2017

Elephiti Islands day tour. Motored to LOPUD, SIPAN and last of all KOLOCEK. Very relaxing day on the water and strolling around these picturesque islands. FISH lunch on boat.
Kotor was my favourite. Another beautiful city with gorgeous lanes.
Wednesday September 27 Arrived in Dubrovnik on Tuesday Septrmber 26 and Milan, our driver gave us a commentary as he delivered us to the Valamar Lacroma on the peninsula. The OLD CITY looks fabulous from the cliff top so we cant wait for a birds eye view, perhaps from the Cable Car. Today we went to MONTENEGRO by minivan stopping at the boder for passport check. Very strange that MONTENEGRO is not a part of the EU yet uses €, whilst Croatia is but uses Kuna - which is about 5 for $AU. Visied walled cities of Budva and Kotor.
