Bengaluru, India

18 January 2019

Coming back home finally!!! Pretty sure this is the Himalayan mountain range we flew over, i just felt like opening the window and i did it at a great time, it was astounding to fly over them for 15-20 minutes straight, and i don’t know how much longer before i opened the window. Just stared at them 🏔 No idea what that elephant thing is, Qatar is a bit strange

apparently Toys r Us hasn’t closed in India! and this is one of the only recycling cans i’ve seen in India, there’s a lot of development that needs to happen but they can still keep the environment in mind Also they have Baskin Robbins here! didn’t have ice cream almost the whole time so i had to get some on the last night. then we got back to Sanats house and we had good ol’ homemade burgers and fries, a logical transition as i head back to America 😂

16 January 2019

Made it back from Goa ➡️ Bangalore today, pic of plane included. Today we somehow managed to wake up for the sunrise, which we watched from our buildings roof. Unfortunately it didn’t rise over the sea. I then went to the beach where i got some french toast with honey AND an actually really good full body massage for only ~$8 from one of the ladies working the beach. Then we left for our flight after i napped and i am safely back in Sanats home now!
A bit of what Goa looks like at night

yesterday still felt pretty sick, but managed to hang on the beach for a little bit and eat some good food! We got a calamari appetizer, and then i ordered Hong Kong mixed fried rice (with chicken and shrimp). Jake ordered shark, and they asked him if he wanted to see it and they brought out an actual little hammerhead shark!! 20-30 minutes later it was on his plate, perfectly cooked and seasoned, i think it’s definitely the best seafood i’ve ever tried. Kind of a mix texture wise in between chicken and salmon, not really sure how to describe it, but it was delicious. You can see the beach and part of the walkway to it Later, we went to a Greek restaurant called Thalassa, so throwback to when i went to Greece. we got chicken kebabs with pita bread for an appetizer, and then i ordered lamb meat balls with mashed potatoes and it was all very tasty!

Sorry i really haven’t been posting much, i’ve been feeling very sick over the last 2-3 days and have done almost nothing but sleep on the plane, on the beach, and in my room. Feeling quite a bit better today though after sleeping for the last 15 hours! :) I managed to get a meal in yesterday and it was actually super good and I enjoyed it, I had Kingfisher with rice and veggies, which is a local fish and something Sanat recommended. It’s also an Indian bird and name of an Indian beer. I also woke up for the sunset which was absolutely gorgeous, it reminded me of the sun from Star Wars 😂. And i went into the Arabian Sea, so not a complete loss. Hoping the next couple days are much better and this sickness is behind me!

i had an amazing Indian breakfast with a view by the Kabini river. a couple pics of rural india. and the Indian mcdonald’s menu where we stopped for lunch. i got a nice video of rural india that i can’t post as well
Today I woke up for a morning safari and got into jeep at 6:30 AM I saw an indian moon jon deer, pea hens and pea cock, spotted deer, chicken fowl, langur, giant squirrel, elephant dung, serpent eagle, wild boar, white billed stork, sambar, painted stork, jungle fowl. Did not see any elephants or big cats which was disappointing. What was super cool: i legitimately saw a monkey fly from tree to tree, it used one branch as a trampoline to bounce to another and was fully in the air. I also saw a herd of baby spotted deer eating. and I saw 2 deer fighting locked up on their hind legs, and then after a few seconds of that they were chilling grazing together.

10 January 2019

At 3:30 we took a boat tour of the river Kabini I saw a baby elephant, wild boar, spotted deer, many birds: (osprey, snakebird, peacock, open-billed stork, spotbill duck, kingfisher, and more), gray langur monkey, crocodiles, school of tadpoles, and fish skipping on water These pics won’t do any of it justice honestly, but they’re cool. I saw a baby elephant eating leaves off a tree with its trunk so that made the whole trip, it was like Nat Geo live
I had no wifi for a day and a half when we travelled to Kabini for a safari and got back today. the 10th we moved into this super cool tent in the jungle where we slept last night! it’s like a rented cottage kind of. we had a very good traditional indian lunch. There was this insanely cool setting for a ping pong table, like a little jungle arena

9 January 2019

Wednesday the 9th we went to lunch at an Indian fusion place called Bombay Brasserie where i had butter chicken and a bunch of random appetizers like chili fries and some things i can’t remember/spell. After, we went to a stock exchange bar called the Tipys Bull. this works by reflecting demand in a drinks price, so more popular drinks increase in price and vice versa, super cool concept! i had an India Bira White which was really good and kind of like a Spotted Cow, and then had to try a a Tom Collins for the first time in my life as well! It was actually really good i thought Later in the day we managed to go to an Indian taco bell too
More pics from earlier today!

8 January 2019

Today we woke up at 5:45 AM to make it to a 7:30 tour of Cubbon park, where we learned a lot about the history of Bangalore and British colonialism there. It was a beautiful park with lots of cool statues, trees, and some buildings. It’s 200 acres and acted as a buffer zone between old and new bangalore. From 1881-1894 there was an Indian prince, who began his tenure at age 18, who brought democracy, increased gender equality, and technology and science to Bangalore. Also fun fact, 60% of vegetation in the park and Bangalore is not native to the city but brought from the UK or elsewhere. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant called Airlines and had a traditional Indian breakfast of dosa (which is like a rice crepe with veggies and sauce inside) and vada (which is an indian donut) with some dipping sauces. Later we went to Commercial St and Church St which are marketplaces and full of vendors. i bought some really good strawberries and some other things!

7 January 2019

Yesterday we had a very nice, chill day. I played 6 games of basketball within Sanats clubhouse with some of his friends and Jake which was a ton of fun. One of his friends could definitely play college ball in the US! Later we went to Toscano, a really nice Italian spot where i got a rosemary beef fillet steak (pictured), with roasted potatoes and veggies. look at how artistic the dish is. Afterwards, we went to Sanats friends Vinesha’s home, where her family’s apartment is literally 5 stories tall and probably the nicest home i’ve ever been in. Hopefully we can make it back there sometime so i can take some pics of it, place is amazing. Everyone is just so very rich or poor here because of the development and income inequality, but we could live like kings here as well if we moved

6 January 2019

Apologies for not updating the journi recently, wifi is extremely hard to come by here i have literally only had it at Sanats house everywhere else i’d have to pay, but here we go! 2 days ago (Sunday here) we went to brunch at a place called Shiro with sanat and his friends. A very boujee crowd and the food and drinks were amazing, i had a lot of sushi and different dishes and forms of chicken and fish, all very tasty. Later we made our way to a rooftop bar called Bang that was also super classy and had a great time

5 January 2019

Didn’t get too many pics yesterday but had a good day! woke up early and had some breakfast and then Al and I flew his drone around outside and he got some cool shots with his camera on it. Eventually we made it to Sanats old gated community he used to live in called Palm Meadows. it also has a hotel connected to it so he pretty much grew up in a resort. we worked out for 45 minutes and then I went swimming and had a nice little spa day while everyone else watched a soccer match. hit the sauna and steam room and jacuzzi. After, we went to a brewery for dinner called The Biere Club, i unfortunately didn’t try any of the beers tho and stuck to water. i had some good bow tie paste with chicken and roasted artichoke and garlic, and we all split a jumbo platter of Indian kebabs and potatoes and other meats and fries and veggies! everything has at least a little spice/kick to it
Sanat’s home 😮 so nice. his dog is 105 in dog years, such a doggo. her name is Tasha. but yeah oh my god his place is nice

4 January 2019

Made it to India (although my suitcase did not)! we woke up today and had a nice lunch outside of Sanat’s very nice home, it was green curry chicken with peppers and rice. I have a nice video of it but unfortunately journi won’t let me post that. I also have videos of us bowling and learning how to play cricket in batting cages at a mall in Bangalore, so i’ll have to show everyone those sometime My suitcase is hopefully gonna be here tomorrow, even tho previously they said it’d be here today, but they’re reimbursing me $50 for clothes to wear so I got some free stuff out of it at the mall! Traffic here is absolute chaos. mopeds, buses, trucks, tractors, people, bikes, cars, all going every which way on the street. it’s really every man for themself and i love it. It’s also unique being a minority for the first time in my life, i’ve seen 3(?) other white people since i’ve been here 🤣 I’ll update with more later, we’re going to meet some of sanats friends at bars soon!

3 January 2019

Landed in Doha, Qatar after a loooong 13ish hour flight! Watched 3 movies and had 2 pretty good meals and passed out
