Bali...last stop in Southeast Asia.

22 March 2017

Our journey through Asia comes to an end. These last 7 months have been crazy, adventurous, tiring, sometimes even frustrating but it taught us a lot of things. Thank you again for being part of this adventure, for all your lovely messages about our pictures, it means a lot to us! See you in Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί πŸ€πŸ’›

Before leaving Bali, we visited this small school in the Ubud area. 40 children, 2 small classes and 3 to 4 extremely friendly "gurus" (teachers). They have school from 7.30am till 10am but the truly important social values are taught to the young generations from the start and the sense of community is here extremely strong. The children we saw today start and finish their schooldays with prayer and singing and nobody leaves the classroom without shaking the teacher's hand in a sign of peace. It was an amazing experience to visit schools on our trip through Asia. We are still fascinated by how much they manage to do with sometimes very little resources. They often miss basic material, space and teachers, everything that costs money. On the other side, we noticed that the schools were always full of life, joy and gratefulness. Communication between teachers, students and parents is good and nobody ever seems to lack discipline and good manners. #wehavethemostbeautifuljobintheworldπŸ€πŸ’›

Welcome to the Gili Islands, where there are no cars nor motorbikes and where you can walk around one island in a couple of hours (or take the "horse-taxi"). We are staying in Gili Air, enjoying the vibe between reggae bars, beachside restaurants and dive shops. Isolated from everything this place truly is a getaway paradise where we spend our days doing yoga surrounded by nature (me), diving with sharks (dino got his diving license yesterday), snorkeling with turtles 🐒 and lazying on the beach by this amazing cristal clear water!πŸ πŸ‘πŸ¦ˆπŸ™πŸŒ΄β˜€οΈ

Yes, we're still in the Ubud area. I'm in love with this Village. The owners of the Guesthouse we're staying at are so wonderful and kind. They treat us like we're part of the family which makes it even harder to leave! We've had the opportunity to meet other locals, to see how children play the traditional instruments (gamelan) and we were even asked to promote their cultural village (we will tell you more about it in a few days)😁. Tomorrow we're heading to the Gili Islands for some snorkeling and diving! Stay tunedπŸ˜˜πŸŒ΄πŸŒΌπŸ€πŸ’

The temples of Bali are unique. They have their own beauty, it is impossible to compare them to other temples we saw in Asia. They are embellished with springs, flowers, incense sticks and daily canang (offering). πŸŒΌπŸŒΈπŸŒΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡¨

We had an amazing trip with you two! Thank you for visiting and flying 13000 km to spend a week with us. We did in 4 days, what most people usually do in 2 weeks. Merci...πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Amazing vegetation, volcano view and black sand beach, all in one day! Since this wasn't enough and to make it more adventurous we got lost a few times, we had a flat tire, we got scamed and paid to much for petrol but we survived πŸ˜πŸ›΅πŸŒ΄β˜€οΈπŸ’ΈπŸ˜Ž
Finding these rice fields was a great adventure. Traveling more than 50km by motorcycle through the roads of Bali was another one. They say that the traffic here in Bali is the worst in SE Asia and we can confirm IT IS!😱(We have seen a young man falling from his motorbike; he got on his feet, raised his hands to thank God πŸ™πŸΌand drove away). But it was well worth it, the landscapes are breathtaking and the rice fields, the most beautiful we have seen so far.πŸŒ΄πŸšπŸ›΅πŸ’•
