Backpacking around Kenya

30 December 2016

Once in Watamu we head to the beach to get the last rays of sun and swimming in the really hot African waters๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒด Our peacefulness is broken by the scream of local Beach Boys who make themselves recognizable by their attempts to sell tours and other stuff! We adopt the most powerful weapon: ignoring them and keep sun bathing ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž
On our way to Watamu we stop in Mombasa because the most stylish of our crew members wants to discover precious materials and textures for his new 2017 Spring Summer collection! Watch out Cavalli and Armani, Fossiรฑo is in the industry now!
Day 4 - We wake up in the early morning for the last safari session. Three male lions say us goodbye and mark us an incredible vacation in the savannah ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿœ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿœ ๐ŸŒด In the meantime Stefano (aka Airoldiรฑo) plays the role of Steve McCurry with the Kodak analogic. We leave the Tsavo East National Park behind after a final shot with our guide Samuel!!! Ciao Samu thanks for spotting all these animals, because if it was for us the most incredible thing we could spot was the Francolin๐Ÿ“ cocorododooooooooo๐Ÿณ

Once in Tsavo East (12,000 km2) we start spotting majestic African elephants๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Differently from their cousins in Tsavo West, they are all red due to the sand that covers the park๐Ÿœ We arrived at our lodges and are surprised of the organization: we chill by the pool and fall asse for an hour before our afternoon safari session! In the afternoon we do not that many animals as in the previous parks, but witness the hunting session of 2 cheetahs! Shivers!๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐ŸŒด We return at our lodge and enjoy a beer in good company!๐Ÿป๐Ÿป
On the way to Tsavo East: someone is tired and reacting violently at jokes ๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿป๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿป๐Ÿ–•๐Ÿป
Day 3 - we wake up early with the African sun kissing our beautiful happy faces! As soon as we get out of our tents we realize how close we are to the Mount Kilimangiaro ๐Ÿ—ปwe are astonished of what our eyes are witnessing when a giraffe sneak out of the trees! BEAUTIFUL!๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒ„๐ŸŒด We proceed in our 6h drive to Tsavo East National Park, and I cut myself when opening the car window: luckily Dr. Fossa is there ready to support me with medications from his special "Humanitas" green bag! Thanks Gianlu, I'm a safe man now and I can keep enjoying Africa!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’Š

28 December 2016

Small highlights from Day 2 - We enjoyed playing Indiana Jones with Gianluca's hat, who is undoubtably the most "technical" and logistically prepared crew member to face such a trip to Africa.๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ญ๐Ÿ”จ๐Ÿ”ฉ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‘ž๐ŸŽ’ This is confirmed from his seriousness when taking a selfie with the elephants! Gian you can't eat an elephant, they will kick your butt
Day 2 - A 5.30am alarm push us out of bed and after a quick breakfast we are ready to go, destination: Amboseli National Park! On our way to the park we encounter several different animals and when stopping at the Midzna Springs we had the chance to spot a group of elusive hippos who were chilling on this oasis in the middle of the savanna On our way we stopped at one of the few Masai villages where we were welcomed by a local dance performed by the youngsters of the village and shared a prey with the chief. They later showed us around their houses made of mud, plants and cow poo, which apparently are water proof๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฉand played with the kids. Once reached the Amboseli national park, at the base of the Kilimanjaro Mountain, we literally felt like in the Lion King Movie and the "Circle of life" song was in the back of our minds. Zebras, gnus, hyaenas, elephants and the majestic lions were wondering around their own natural playground. One of my dreams came true of witnessing such beauty

Day 1 - After a pretty chill 9h flight (surprisingly without screaming kids) we land in Mombasa. A 4 h drive on a Safari pickup car was waiting for us ahead; destination: Tsavo West National Park!๐ŸŒด๐Ÿž We are amazed of the big spaces and green vegetation that characterize this 9,000km2 land and surprised of the fauna we encounter in our first day: โœ”๏ธelephant โœ”๏ธgiraffes โœ”๏ธzebras โœ”๏ธbuffalos โœ”๏ธand the unforgettable francolin, an orange plumed kind of turkey which seemed delicious sided with fries๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿด๐ŸŸ The most amazing encounter was the elusive Jaguarwho was inspecting the area for shy preys. It was incredible how close we were to it! An Unforgettable experience! After driving back to the lodge under an African ๐Ÿœsunset, we enjoyed a nice meal and spotted another jaguar who was attracted by a piece of meat hanging at the lodge.๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ– The night closed with a beautiful representation of Mantegna's "Christ" from our travel companion Airoldinho, who couldn't wait to share his artistic vibes

๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ชโœˆ๏ธAll set - we are Ready to goโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช Few screaming kids are queuing in the check in line (Except for that little girl that really wanted to try her new sneakers, by jumping around the airport). Hopefully will be a chill flight.
