Our journey comes to an end! Almost one year ago we had this crazy idea of travelling around the world. I still cannot believe that we've left home for so long. We did it 😅!!!
We would like to thank all the wonderful people who followed us, you made this adventure even more beautiful and unforgettable! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You're the best!😙
We are keeping one last surprise for the end: while we enjoy the last bit of this trip on the beach, we are preparing a Journi about all that went wrong during this year! 🙃 Stay tuned and see you soon!!

Dear all :)
we arrived safely in Mancora and are enjoying our last weeks of this beautiful adventure at the beach. We will post some more pictures of the village in a few days.
Have a wonderful weekend ☀️🌴🐠♥️

The charming city of Trujillo 🍀🌼
27 June 2017
We arrived in grey and busy Lima. In Winter the city is almost always foggy and after the other colorfoul cities this one looks a bit sad to us, doesn't it?

On our last day in Cusco there was again a beautiful parade, during an important Inka holiday. We then left for Arequipa, Peru's "white city", with its beautiful buildings and the impressive volcano El Misti always in the background. After a day we again left this city and its dramatic surrounding landscape for a long bus journey to Peru's capital...

MACHU PICCHU - no words needed!! 🍀
20 June 2017
We just finished our last trek! We hiked all the way up to the Salkantay Pass (over 4600m) and slept in a bitterly cold tent! In total, we walked over 50km through the beautiful Andes, down to the border of the Amazonian Forest. Enjoy the freezing pictures to cool yourself off from the hot and sweaty days in Luxembourg!! ❄

After shortly stopping in Puno, we made our way to the beautiful city of Cusco, the Inca capital! Although it seems too touristy around the nice city centre, authenticity is never far away! ...Especially in the local and wild markets, where you can buy pig heads and roasted guinea pigs (photo nr. 7), where the streets are not clean but the people friendly. And at the end of the day, you can find good coffee, too, while masked and dancing people are parading nearby 🎉🐁🐖☕

The show goes on. We crossed the border right next to Lake Titicaca and walked over to the last country of this adventure. After more than 10 months, Peru is country number 14 and actually the very reason why I decided to travel the world one year ago. 🌻🌼🌺🌸

Our 4 last days in Bolivia were filled with beautiful lake views from the Islas del sol y de la luna, long treks, authentic festivals, market shopping and surviving the ice cold nights under 4 heavy blankets. And we even helped a local community carry bags of cement up a hill!
11 June 2017
Welcome to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake of the world (3812m)! To get to Copacabana, we had to take a boat, while our bus (the green one) was on its way on another boat. 🚣♂️🚣♀️
10 June 2017
Short stop in La Paz before heading to Copacabana...on Lake Titicaca, in Bolivia. No we are not going to Brazil...
7 June 2017
The Salar of Uyuni is the largest Salt flat of the world (over 10000 square kilometres) and very impressive (and so cold)! Unfortunately the weather was really bad and we couldn't do the whole 3 day trip... nevertheless we were able to take some funny pictures at the Salar and the old trains cemetery! ❄🌬

Sucre, also known as "the white city", is Bolivia's beautiful capital. Completely different from La Paz, Sucre's streets are cleaner and less crowded. The white and well maintained colonial buildings and churches add a charming flair to the culturally rich city. 🚗☀️

What a wonderful mess! The colors, the noise, the always smiling people, the beautifully overdressed mujeres, the food, the music, we love it all! (All but the smog 😷)

Crossing a border by land is always an adventure! First we had to take the bus on the highway, where there is no stop 🤷♂️🙋♀️). Second, it's common that people try to scam you (this time the driver's assistent wanted us to buy new tickets even though our tickets were fine - we didn't). Third, there is the walk across the border, with backpack, the very serious looking employees and armed policemen. And finally, when you arrive at the other side, you hope your bus hasn't disappeared! Luckily it was waiting for us!
While all this happens, you get first glimpses of the new country you are going to see, with new colors and styles. The landscape, well, it keeps being amazing! Benvenidos a Bolivia 🇧🇴 👒🚍

Salar de Surire and its treasures! 😀
29 May 2017
The Parque Nacional Lauca had some amazing surprises! First of all, it was bitterly cold and dry! But we got to see Alpacas, Lamas and Vicuñas (same family, one cuter than the other), Vizcachas (big Chinchillas) and many birds. It was a long tough day in this unforgiving climate, and walking at 4600m above sea level was exhausting. By the way, lake Chungará is said to be the highest lake in the world (at least of these dimensions!) 😧🌵🏔

Dear loved ones,
We are now in the very north of Chile and gaining some altitude. The pueblo (village) of Putre is located at 3500m above sea level and to prevent altitude sickness, we just had our first cup of mate de coca, which is basically an infusion of dried coca leaves. In the next days we hope to see some spectacular landscapes and astonishing views, which we will of course share with you! Enjoy the sunny weather! 😊🌿🍵

¡Hola! The last chapter of our craziness has just begun, in Chile! We quickly escaped rainy and cold Santiago to come for a stroll through Valparaíso's colourful cerros (hills). This port city truly is an open air museum, where visitors are surrounded by all kinds of arts, like paintings, graffitis, sculptures and music. 🥑🍋
