Southern England

7 July 2017

A long walk through an almost magical forest ends here. The view over Bristol Channel is stunning and makes the quite windy conditions at the very top of Exmoor seem irrelevant.

This morning, we left Salisbury. On the way, we stopped by Stone Henge and admired the mysterious pile of stones, along with the other tourists. We ate lunch in an American-themed diner, which we just happened to drive by, and after a quite long but beautiful drive through the English countryside, we have now arrived in Porlock.

Earlier today, we went to the cathedral, but it was closed due to a military exercise. This evening, however, we were able to attend the service, which was absolutely stunning. The cathedral is beautiful, as was the choir song. Afterwards, we walked through a park to see the cathedral from a distance in the afternoon light.
The morning exercise left us hungry, so we went for some lunch and a smoothie in this wonderful square.
Visiting Old Sarum. After a beautiful walk in the summer heat, we arrived at these ruins of an old castle with a great view of the city.

Finally in Salisbury after half a day of traveling. The city is incredibly beautiful though, and the view is definitely worth it.
Now we are on our way. Next step: renting a car.
