Anita's odyssey through Europe

16 January 2016

After two canceled flights, we finally got transferred to Air France, so we flew from Barcelona to Paris and then from Paris to Houston. I can't wait to be home in my own bed in my own room with my own bathroom and my own shampoo and conditioner. The person next to me has started snoring and we haven't even taken off yet. Also there are several babies on board who won't stop crying. This is an 11 hour flight. Pic of Paris from the plane

Sea Day: last day onboard the Norwegian Epic I've been insulted!!!! Dad said I look like a drug addict without makeup.

Málaga, Spain/Granada, Spain: last stop of the cruise! Today we visited the magnificent Alhambra and downtown Granada.

Breathtaking views in Madeira: a little reminder that there are still places in the world that remain untouched by people, where there is more green than gray cement. Fun fact: Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Funchal, Madeira.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: Basically my first time on land since the new year.

Currently angry because the ship couldn't dock in Tangier, Morocco due to "strong currents." WELL WHY DONT YOU KEEP TRYING 😤 Anyway, here's a picture of my mom looking hungover with a mimosa at the sad breakfast after we found out we couldn't get off at Morocco.
One full day (25 hours total, thanks to a changed time zone) onboard the ship with nothing to do already has all of us fighting. I hit Andrea like 5 times. She hit me 6 times because she's a jerk. Mom keeps sleeping and snoring. And on top of all that, my dad has been complaining nonstop. Here's a little sample.

Observation: The passengers of this ship seem to be mostly middle-aged and older European retirees. Everyone on board seems to love drinking... At all times of the day. Except for the Japanese, that is. There are a lot of them that seem to be traveling with a tour guide that translates for them at the restaurants on board.

We have finally reached the beautiful city of Barcelona and set sail aboard the Norwegian Epic! My dad keeps wanting me to speak Spanish even though he knows my Spanish is not on a conversational level and also that people in Barcelona speak Catalán (I think). Next stop: Morocco
The airline (in a very inefficient way) hooked us up with a hotel! And there's snow!!! I got 3 hours of sleep because our flight to Barcelona was at 7 am and we didn't get into the hotel room until 3 am 🙃🔫

Flight was delayed 3 hours due to weather conditions in Istanbul so they gave us this less than mediocre cheese sandwich.
