Lovely day around Art Deco Napier today. Mal took some shots of various photos of buildings around the town centre. We also went to the National Aquarium and saw an array of fish, penguins, sharks and some kiwis! Off to Wellington tomorrow!
Some photos of Mal and Angus on Pebble Beach this morning.

Napier Beach pebbles
A couple more photos: Mal and Angus and the Huka Falls Jet boat ride yesterday and some more from today.
Today we travelled from Taupo across to Napier. Again some absolutely breath taking scenery - hard to notice as you are concentrating on the driving 😳. The highways are very good though!Napier is known for its buildings in Art Deco style. The amazing thing is the beach- black pebbles. Note Mal sunbaking and building a sand/pebble castle 😳. The ocean is a great colour. We also went to a couple of our favourite wineries that are only 10-15 minutes out of town. The Mission is the oldest winery in NZ and was a Marist missionary. Church Road was the other one.
Last night we ate a great restaurant but the sun was an issue at 7:40- as we were facing West

A lovely trip out on the lake to see a Maori carving into the rock face. The one of Angus is out the front of our unit- a hot spot on the water.

Mal and Angus had the day in Rotorua at the Luge adventure park and a thermal park. A GoPro video will document the luge rides soon.
Magnificent views & sunset shots from out the front of our unit ( we face West across the lake) with the mountains in the distance- Ruapehu and Tongariro.

We left Hamilton for Wiatomo Caves and had a lovely morning out of the inclement weather. We then headed for Taupo ( a couple of hours) through wind, horizontal rain and Fog. As the low moves across the weather is gradually improving. We settled into our unit then popped next door for a nice restaurant meal and some photo opportunities on the lake front.

Today we travelled from the Coromandel Penninsular on highway 2 which goes beside the Karangahake Gorge through to Hamilton.Lots of windy roads of the peninsula that Mal loved driving- Incredibly dramatic scenery with patched of fog- like Toowoomba on steroids! Mal and Angus did the walk through the gorge and I waited taking in the scenery and talking to a couple of Jehova Witness ladies. It was a gold mining area so there were shafts for them to explore😳
3 January 2018
Hahei, Cathedral Cove and Hot Beach. Mal and Angus went down to Cathedral Cove as it was quite a physical walk that I would find too hard but they took lots of shots. Mal has been clever photo shopping the people out of Hot Water Beach to come when downloaded off GoPro

Here is the beautiful McClaren Waterfall
We are staying outside of Tauranga ( Bay of Plenty) at a lovely B&B in an avocado farm called Kingfisher Retreat run by a lovely couple and their 6 month old puppy Shadow- just heaven! Mal took us into town and showed us where he worked and lived 25 years ago. Tauranga and Mt Maunganui are a port and have great beaches! We are off to the Coromandal Penninsula tomorrow.
