Amanda's journi to Iceland

11 March 2016

The striking and beautiful Lutheran church of Hallgrimskirkja in central Reykjavik

10 March 2016

A storm was blowing in again as we left the restaurant in Reykjavik
Dinner in Reykjavik. It was all fab apart from the dodgy bit of shark lurking in that jar. The closest thing I can describe it to is a full day litter tray left in the sun for three days
A spot of her shopping in Reykjavik just down the road from Hallgrimskirkja

The best gin and tonic in the world whilst we sat out the back of the cottage in snow and watched the aurora dance overhead. There are moments in life you never forget and this is one of them
The fabulous dc3 deserted and decaying on the black beaches of Vik. It was only a couple of days after we visited that the access point was closed. We had found it just as the light was fading and the sleaty rain was setting in
On the side of the road as we headed back to Reykjavik
Followed by the fabulous Glacial Lagoon Jokulsarlon, where seals sim gracefully by in the cool still waters
The fabulous Diamond beach with its black sand and early morning light. Shame we missed sunrise as the light is harsh quiet quickly after that
At 5am artificially lit off road 1 as we headed for Jokulsarlon

8 March 2016

Our accommodation for the week, somewhere outside the Golden Circle
The fabulous horses of the icelandic wilds
Mighty Gullfoss in all her winter splendour. There was a blizzard blowing in and the paths were coated completely in ice, but what a wonder
Strokker - the original geyser that likes to pop its cork every 6 - 10 mins or so and covered me in warm bath like water
