Amanda's adventure in Athens, Greece

13 August 2017

Leaving Paros 😢😢 We took the ferry back to Athens fairly early in the morning, saying goodbye to our favorite Greek island. Upon arriving in Athens, Mark and I went with some of our trip mates to grab some food, baklava, and check out the Stadium. Along the way, we picked up a few souvenirs then headed back to the hotel to hang out and get ready to fly to Rome! See ya later Greece!

WE DID SO MUCH TODAY. Included: seeing the Athens acropolis, temple of Zeus, Parthenon, National Archeology Museum, New Acropolis Museum, Exarchia (aka graffiti town, the coolest place ever), aaaand probably several other things I'm forgetting. I don't think I've ever walked this much in my life! But it was beautiful and so worth it. Athens pro tip: DOGS EVERYWHERE! MY DREAM! These dogs are well taken care of, vaccinated twice a year and fed every day. They apparently have their own turf and the same people feed them and they wander around getting pets and loves and everything is good in the world. 💙

We had apps, drinks, and dinner at this BEAUTIFUL rooftop restaurant in downtown Athens for our Welcome Mixer. A bunch of traditional Greek food was served: lamb, pita, hummus and others, along with french fries! We had a view of beautiful ruins and witnessed a spectacular sunset. I'm back at the hotel now, resting for a full day of sightseeing tomorrow!
We got here a few hours ago and are simply relaxing in the hotel room. Shortly we'll make our way to the Welcome Mixer, where we will finally get to meet our tour mates!
