Breakfast with the ocean
The quite wee hours. This was a zoo yesterday afternoon.

Had to take the bus up to town. The Kevlar lining made me feel a little better, but not much. It certainly made for a weird ride. I had no idea where I was or what was outside. Basically riding in a windowless vehicle, fairly disorienting.
Made it to Timika, West Papua!
Resting on the job, it's all part of a day's work here in Papua.
This last leg of this trip is the hardest. I was feeling great until this evening.
"You mean I've been using it wrong this whole time!" JK For those who don't know how to use a western toilet (truly a possibility around here), this one comes with instructions.

Dinner on the beach! I got the snapper.
Designer Qing-Yang Xiao designed the menus, placemats, and other materials for EVA Airways. I will have to look up more of his work.
I'm on a Hello Kitty plane for the next leg. The A330. It's called "Hello Kitty Happy Music Time" and "has a fanciful melody designed to inspire happiness in the air". According to the magazine. Haha!
The pajamas bottoms that they gave us on the plane last night were WAY too short for my long legs. It was quite a funny sight.
I have no idea what it is! So I'm going to try it!
The toilet seats are heated! And they have buttons for bidets! A little crazy!
After literally walking around the entire airport, I have arrived at the EVA air lounge. I missed the signs to the lounge and ended up leaving the terminal. Thank goodness they have a shower because I just worked up a sweat! I must have walked 3 miles with my backpack.
And...welcome to October 7th. This is the closest to time travel I'll ever come. October 6th didn't happen. : )
It just occurred to me, though I had been wondering, that the pilots are sitting in the cockpit right above my head. I am seated at the nose of the plane and this is a 747, a double decker.
So we passed Shanghai and all that I saw was a few widely scattered city lights. I can only assume that it was Shanghai and that the pollution was blocking out the rest of the lights.
Breakfast with China! No, not the china ware. China! We are about to fly past Shanghai! I am looking for the city lights.
A delectable spread.
Goody box for the flight!
Upon boarding I opened an unassuming navy bag, thinking it would be a blanket only to find that it is a set of pajamas! Haha! Alright, cool!

5 October 2015

All Dressed Chips, Maynard's Wine Gums, The Hudson Bay Company's red wool blankets, "Hors Taxes" signs, I know I'm in Canada!
Not a bad place to spend the next 5 hours.
Up, up, and Away! Next stop Vancouver, BC.
A gluten free restaurant! Yum!
Goodbye fall colors! I'm on my way! The epic 50+ hour journey begins!
All packed and ready to go!
