Abby's adventure in Italy

7 July 2017

I had the chance to visit the Vatican and was in awe by the magnificent art work that covered the walls. The first sculpture pictured depicts a Pope with his hands spread and extended. This shows the idea that we are all one with him worshiping the church. He is extending his hands to give off a welcoming vibe for anyone to join in the worshiping of Jesus. The sculpture as a whole is made of marble. One can tell he is a holy figure by the gold crest above him being held up by two angels. He is also presented wearing the traditional pope garb. The painting pictured was one of my absolute favorite pieces of art in the Vatican because of the way Jesus was depicted. The picture reminded me of the pope in the aspect that we all follow him to lead us. In the painting it is evident that people are humbled and in awe by the presence of Jesus. Overall my time at the Vatican was amazing! I loved every second of it from the art to just praying at a kneeler and reflecting on my faith.
