Aarohi's adventure in Manali, Himachal Prades

9 January 2017

There are few experiences that open up not just your heart but also the lungs and your mind and hiking does just that. Hiking or trekking  is the best possible way to experience the local flavors of the destination. With the pace under your command, stop at leisure, meet people who live around there, try native cuisine from small hole-in-the wall shops, make new friends and come back with an interesting tale of your own!

In Life. This mantra of enjoying the journey should be applied to any situation–enjoy every moment of life, at home, on a mountain, or at work.   Adventure trekking through the twisted trails of the Himalayas. A trek through the twisted trails of the Himalayas, will take you up and down, up and down, right and left, left then right, and all over again. Even if I get tired of these twists and turns, I still trek forward. While trekking across the Himalayas, I faced constant challenges like crossing lakes, climbing huge boulders, and instant weather changes. My feet were swollen and some members of the trekking group advised me to turn back, but I didn’t give up. I had gone so far and not completing the journey would have been a huge disappointment. I decided to forget about the pain and complete the journey.
Nothing is more beautiful than the loveliness of the woods before sunrise.   When we look up, it widens our horizons. We see what a little speck we are in the universe, so insignificant, and we all take ourselves so seriously, but in the sky, there are no boundaries. No differences of caste or religion or race. We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness.
“The place where you lose the trail is not necessarily the place where it ends.”
you don’t take care of yourself The dry air at high altitude turns the lines from the grimaces you make while hiking into wrinkles on your face. A lack of showering and grooming, bad nutrition, sleep deprivation and in my case a lack of drinking water, also add marks to your face. There are pimples involved as well as bloated faces, sausage fingers, frizzy hair, cracked lips, filthy nails, smelly armpits and often a general zombie-like expression.  You start to look more and more like the crazy cat lady. Staring back at you in the mirror, is an uglier, neglected and aged version of yourself that will make you swear you will vigorously start layering that day cream with SPF factor once you get home.
The stars were better company anyway. They were very beautiful, and they almost never snored. I walked slowly to enjoy this freedom, and when I came out of the mountains, I saw the sky over the prairie, and I thought that if heaven was real, I hoped it was a place I never had to go, for this earth was greater than any paradise.
is intimately associated with goodness of character, and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man."

“Camping: The art of getting closer to nature while getting farther away from the nearest cold beverage, hot shower and flush toilet.” “But the place which you have selected for your camp, though never so rough and grim, begins at once to have its attractions, and becomes a very centre of civilization to you: “Home is home, be it never so homely.”
