Italy (Rome, Amalfi Coast, Florence..

29 October 2016

Taking a tour of Villa Necchi Campiglio, a fancy 1930's villa. I was excited that they have preserved the house along with the owners belongings but when we arrived it was clear it was going to be more of a tour around the house looking at the dresses the owner left... I'm cool with it but Garrett asked what I got him into 😕. Guess I should have expected it from one of the fashion capitals of the world!
While touring around the fancy mall in Milan, I found this awesome cake shop! Definitely going back for lunch 😉
Took a 6:30am train to Milan so we could spend the day there before our late flight to Barcelona tonight. We arrived and took a 260 stair hike to the top of the Duomo Cathedral!

Treats for our last night in Venice!

27 October 2016

Day two in Venice! We went to the Jewish ghetto then to the Basilica di San Marco. After lunch we took the water bus over to Murano to check out the famous Murano glass factories. It was a very cute quiet island.

Made it to Venice! I absolutely love it here. This place takes the cake for my favorite city of the trip so far!

24 October 2016

Was a rainy first day in Cinque Terre but the views and lovely little town were well worth the wet trek. We spent two days here and it was a very relaxing place!

Did some touristy things today 😜

22 October 2016

Took a break to catch the sunset on top of Piazza Michelangelo
Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore
After the wine tour we went back into Florence and went to the Ai Weiwei exhibit. It was so cool!
Got up nice and early for our Tuscan wine tour! It was a lot of fun and we went to two great wineries. We met some nice Swedish people in the group as well.

21 October 2016

Arrived in Florence and checked into our hostel. The hostel is in an old monastery so it's lacking some things like heat and insulation but it is a very cool old building. It's pretty far away from the city centre but the view makes up for it!

20 October 2016

Spending our last day walking to the different plazas and seeing the buildings you might not find in your typical tour of Rome. We are loving it!

19 October 2016

After visiting the Vatican we wondered off to find some pre-dinner drinks. On our way we found another beautiful church and a square filled with performers and very cute restaurants.
St. Peter's Basilica! Wow this place was huge and amazing! Had to wait in line for about 45 minutes but it was so worth it.
The Vatican Museum
Took a nice walk and explored the churches we found along the way before heading to Vatican City!

Inside the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiori
Selfies at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiori
Basilica Di San Pietro in Vincoli
Took an afternoon break and Garrett found just the chair for him!
The Roman Forum
Arch of Constantine
Driving through Pompeii this morning. What a crazy site so see the still very active Mount Vesuvius lurking over the town and filling it with haze. Really cool, but kind of scary!

Cheers to an amazing sunset and a great end to our first day in Italy. Tomorrow we will drive back to Rome and begin exploring!
Enjoying some sweets on the Amalfi Coast!
After a crazy drive we arrived at the Amalfi Coast in the town of Positano. It is stunning here! We could not stop snapping pictures of this beautiful and colourful coastal town. The streets where windy and filled with great shops and restaurants. We stayed the night in a neighbouring town.
